Goaltender Ryan Miller started a 21st consecutive game, his longest streak since starting 34 in a row during the 2007-08 season. That streak could come to an end this week with the team beginning a stretch of four games in six nights Tuesday.

Miller has started two of the losses to Montreal, giving up five goals, but the offense has been a bigger problem.

Buffalo was averaging 2.5 goals in its first 25 games, which included the three losses to the Canadiens. However, the Sabres have had more success finding the back of the net recently, averaging 3.4 goals in their last 11 games.

"(The Canadiens have) got a good goalie that's very confident against us," said Jochen Hecht, who has four goals in his last eight games. "They don't give up a lot of chances, especially when they've got the lead so we want to get the lead in the first period and hold onto it and make them open up and change their game plan a little bit."
